trivago: Compare hotel prices

I booked a hotel with this third rate German garbage. What a huge mistake. I show up to the hotel and show them my Trivago receipt and booking number, that means nothing to the hotel. They start looking at me like I'm a con artist making up fake emails. I called Trivago support, they supposedly escalated my issue to a higher level and told me to expect a call in 15-30 minutes. Over an hour later I was disputing the charges with my bank. Then I booked through the hotel for the same price.

Confirmed my reservation by text, email, and phone. The hotel said there was a problem with the reservation. That means it was not confirmed. If Trivagomakes a mistake, the hotel will refuse to work with you, so you'll end up calling trivago and waiting an hour and a half in the hotel lobby and they still won't be able to resolve your issue. Don't take a chance and ruin your trip by using Trivago, always booked directly through the hotel if you don't want to have a horrible time..

This is just an average run of the mill travel site with less tools than most. The last 5 hotels I tried to book I was able to find a better deal elsewhere. There will never be a one size fits all travel site that can function. For example before booking hotel XYZ always check XYZ customer website for deals. My worst experience was I booked a place that was a great deal. I booked my airfare. Found out the technology they use doesn't prevent overbooking. It happened to me AS I was flying there.

DON'T USE THIS APP!!!!! I used it to book a hotel for my vacation. I was so excited until I got to my hotel, and found that the reservation had been canceled by the agency I booked it through on Trivago. Trivago would do nothing, neither would the company I booked through. Needless to say, I spent the first 2 hours of my vacation calling Europe (I'm in the U.S.A) trying to get it sorted out. I did find another hotel (on my own) at double the price. I didn't get my money back.

I would love to use this highly touted app, but whenever I try to book, I keep getting forwarded to a different site / app for twice the price... every other booking app is 20x easier to use... should be a simple "book now" option that books for the price they advertise. waste of time
