Frequently Asked Questions

Is ZipRecruiter free to use?
high

Yes, the ZipRecruiter Job Search app is free to download and use. There are no listed in-app purchases. You can search and apply for jobs without any charge.

Source: app_metadata

Does ZipRecruiter show jobs from other websites?
medium

Yes, according to the app description, ZipRecruiter aggregates jobs from hundreds of job boards, so you can see listings from many different sources in one place. However, some recent reviews suggest that most jobs are no longer hosted directly on ZipRecruiter and the app primarily acts as an aggregator.

Why does ZipRecruiter show me jobs that are far away or unrelated to my search?
high

Multiple recent user reviews report that the app's location filter is unreliable—showing jobs in states like Virginia even when searching in New Jersey. Reviewers also note that salary range and experience level filters are not properly applied, leading to irrelevant suggestions like nursing jobs when looking for $15/hour entry-level work.

How do I fix a 'We were unable to process the given information' error when applying?
low

If you see this error, check that your contact information format is correct—including phone numbers and email addresses. However, one reviewer reported that even correct formatting triggers the error, and there is no in-app bug reporting option. You may need to contact ZipRecruiter support through their website instead.

How to Use

ZipRecruiter automatically searches across hundreds of job boards to find and notify you of jobs that match your specified location, keywords, or job titles, allowing you to apply with one tap. (app_description)

Getting Started

Source: app_description_and_user_feedback_noted

  1. Download and install the ZipRecruiter Job Search app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and tell it what kind of job you're looking for by entering your location and keywords like job titles or industries.
  3. Review the list of matched jobs that appear. Based on user feedback, be aware that location and salary filters may not work perfectly; double-check job listings for accuracy.
  4. When you find a job you like, tap the apply button and follow any on-screen instructions to submit your application. If you encounter an error, verify your contact information format.

Key Features (from app listing)

Source: app_description

  • Automatic job search across hundreds of job boards
  • Push notifications for new matching local jobs
  • One-tap application process
  • Learning algorithm that adapts to your job preferences over time
Pro Tip: To work around the reported location filter inaccuracies, try entering a broader search radius than intended and manually scrutinize job locations before applying.

Derived from multiple recent reviews (review IDs 3 and 5) that complain location parameters are ignored. A user suggested strategy based on the observed pattern: expanding the search to compensate for filtering flaws.

Can't apply for any jobs. Keep getting this error message, even though the format of my contact information is correct: "We were unable to process the given information in its current form. Please adjust your contact information." There isn't even a place in the app to report bugs to the devs. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, it did not resolve the issue. Couldn't find anything on Google or their website regarding this error. The app is essentially unusable for me.

I don't know how this app got so much worse since the last time I used it, I'm pretty sure they turned it over to AI and it shows. Pretty much none of the jobs are hosted there anymore so it's just an aggregator, and it doesn't allow you to view the full job description. Suggested jobs are way off, not even close to what I'm looking for. The enshittification of Ziprecruiter is complete.

so there is no way to properly set parameters. I keep putting in my location and I tell it to go a certain distance and it ends up showing me jobs in a completely different location. also when you try to set a salary range it only lets you go salary by year as opposed to hourly even though most companies use an hourly salary instead of yearly. and there is no way to change it. it also doesn't show you proper jobs based on your experience or what you're looking for.

I really love the simple interface of the app! Only reason for 4 stars is the inability to mark jobs as "not interested" or "not a good fit." I'm tired of scrolling through the same jobs and then getting an email about one I already looked at. You could even ask me why I'm not interested. If it might screw up the algorithm, then don't use that data towards the algorithm.

1. When I search 35 miles from New Jersey, I am obviously not asking for jobs in Virginia. 2. When I set the salary range for $15.00+, I don't want to see listings for nursing 3. When I click entry level, that doesn't mean I want to see experienced Diesel tech. Friggin seriously? How hard is it to create a search that actually follows certain parameters. What if they don't want to give all information? DONT LET THEM POST
